Tune up your equipment to play your best golf

It’s the start of golf season and before you dive head first into it, you may want to take a hard look at your golf equipment. If you want a quick and relatively cheap tune up, get some new grips for your golf clubs. There’s nothing like the confidence inspired from new grips on your golf clubs. Couple those grips with a new glove and you’re ready to rip it. These Golf Pride Decade Grips are awfully tempting. They are advertised as the number one grip on tour and they sure look sharp.

Make sure and get fitted for the right sized grip. A too thin grip and you’ll be hooking it. A too thick grip and you’ll be slicing the ball. Or if you want to correct a slice, a thinner grip will help straighten out that ball flight. If you are hooking it, a thicker grip will help.

I went with these Lamkin Dual Density Torsion Control Tour Grips. These grips are really tacky and look real smart. I needed a midsize grip but they just had these in standard size. No problem – a couple extra wraps of grip tape and these fit perfectly. I coupled these with some new stiff shafts and don’t hook my irons anymore. And man do they feel nice! When the club feels that good in your hands, you’re already way ahead of the game.

I’ll talk in a future post about new shafts but for a quick tuneup, do yourself a favor and start out the season with some new grips.
