Kim Welch survives scare on The Big Break Ka’anapali week 4

The most recent episode of The Big Break Ka’anapali started off with the ol’ glass breaking challenge. Nine competitors remain and were divided into three teams. Dana, Courtney and Sophie were made captains and picked their teams. Dana chose Kim and Susan. Courtney chose Lori and Tina.
Sophie chose Samantha and Christina. Christina was hacked off about being chosen last – “Don’t they realize that I’m good?”

In this challenge, each team had to break two panes of glass. Each team member took a shot, one at a time in relay race style, at the glass panes until they were broken. Courtney’s team finished first; Sophie’s second (thanks to help from Christina) and Dana’s finished last – failing to break a single pane.

From there they went on to the next challenge where each team member would play one of three holes – a par 3, par 5 and par 4. Dana made the brilliant move to play Kim, her strongest player last. Dana played the par 3 and made a mess of the hole – getting no points. Susan played the par 5 and also laid a goose egg. By this time, they had no points and the losing team went into the elimination challenge. Kim did birdie the par 4 after smashing a drive 330+ but it was too little too late.

Dana, Susan and Kim went into the elimination challenge which was held on the 18th hole of of Ka’anapali’s Royal Course. The competitors played from three different locations and holed out. The one with the highest score after the three locations was eliminated.

The first location was from 100 yards. There’s water to the right and bunkers to the left. Kim and Dana hit on and Susan barely clears the water hazard. Susan then steps up and chips the ball in the hole for a 2. Kim and Dana are floored as they figured that Susan was the weakest player. Dana two putts and Kim three jacks for a 4.

After one location:

Susan – 2
Dana – 3
Kim – 4

They go back to 140 yards out. Susan hits a beauty and knocks it in for another 2. Kim and Dana both make 3’s.

After two locations:

Susan – 4
Dana – 6
Kim – 7

They go back to 180 yards out. Now the wind starts to whip up and is blowing towards the water. Dana steps up – splash!
Susan steps up – splash!
Kim wises up and hits it left into the bunker.

Susan starts to show some nerves and barely plays her third over the water. Dana smashes it over the green and into the rough. Kim hits her bunker shot long and has a long putt for a three. Kim three jacks again for a 5. Dana takes three to get down from off the green for a six.

After three locations

Susan – 9
Dana – 12
Kim – 12

Dana and Kim go back to the 180 location. Dana goes first and splash! She dumps it in the water again. Kim misses the green but stays dry. Dana hits over the green once again. Kim hits it long but stays on the green. Finally, Kim hits a decent putt and finishes with a four. Dana has to chip in to force another playoff location. She misses and is eliminated.

Before this show, Kim looked like the strongest player but her putting really let her down on this show. It was probably a good experience to go through an elimination challenge. She may handle the pressure better if she gets in another. Susan’s gotten lucky once again. If she had played the elimination round like she did the par 5 she would’ve been long gone. Dana folded in the elimination round. Her last seven shots that were not putts were horrible. Lori is as arrogant as ever. She’ll say the wrong thing at the wrong time and piss everyone off.

Cirbie, Adrienne, and Liz (previously eliminated) make a cameo off to the side as they cheer on the competitors in the elimination challenge.
