Samantha next to leave Big Break Ka’anapali

This week’s Big Break started out with one on one competitions for the remaining six competitors. Overall points leader, Lori Stinkeye Atsedes got to choose her competitor. Lori chose Kim thinking it would come down to putting in the end. Sophie chose Christina as she wanted a little revenge. Apparently, Christina had gotten the best of her previously. That left Samantha and Susan to duel it out.

The first station consisted of hitting the ball onto a grid in the fairway. The grid started at 150 and ended at 200 yards. If you didn’t hit it in in four shots, you were given a five. Lori and Kim hit it in in one. Samantha took two and Susan took one. Sophie needed one while Christina needed several (either three or four – memory is fading here).

From there, they went to the second station – a 160 yard shot to the green. Lori again took one shot. Kim took four. Susan needed three shots to get it on the green. Samantha took two shots to get it on. I believe Sophie nailed it in one shot and Christina may have done the same.

The last station was an 18 foot putt. Kim needed to make the putt in two shots or better but missed both. She was headed to elimination. Christina had a similar task and couldn’t do it. Susan made her putt in two tries and Samantha couldn’t match or better that.

Samantha, Christina and Kim fought it out in this week’s elimination round. Elimination consisted of three holes of golf under a modified scoring system. Eagles were worth +5, birdies +3, pars +1, bogies -1 and double bogies and worse -3. All players were tied after parring the first two holes (a par 4 and a par 5).

Kim uncorked a monster drive and birdied the third hole while the others parred. Kim survived another elimination round while Christina and Samantha replayed the hole to determine who would leave The Big Break. Both hit good drives. Christina put her approach on the green for about a 20 footer for birdie. Samantha tanked her second and was left with a 40 yard pitch shot. Amazingly, Samantha almost holed it for a birdie. She tapped in for par, and Christina two putted for par.

Courtney eliminated from The Big Break Ka’anapali

I caught the end of The Big Break. Courtney and Samantha were in the elimination and were playing two holes of golf – highest score goes home. Samantha shot 1 under and Courtney shot even par.

I had Courtney ranked last in my Big Break player rankings. So I guess you can say that I called that one last week. In fact, Courtney was lucky to avoid elimination last week as she kakked on almost every shot in the elimination round.

Tina eliminated from Big Break Ka’anapali

You would think that since Tina Miller has the fanciest website of all the Big Breakers that she may have won the Big Break Ka’anapali. If so, you would be wrong. Tina lost in a short game shoot out in the elimination round on last night’s Big Break Ka’anapali episode 6.

Last night’s episode also featured the dreaded “C” word out of Christina Lecuyer‘s mouth (btw, somebody scooped up christinalecuyer.com and it wasn’t Christina -oops! – hint to Kim, buy www.kimwelch.com now). I thought the Big Break producers would hype it up more but apparently they are saving some for next week’s episode. During the second challenge of the evening, Christina said that she hoped Tina choked on her shot to the green. When Tina missed her first shot, Christina practically shouted, “YES!” I guess fierce competition can bring the worst out of all of us. Or maybe Christina dreads the idea of being in the elimination round and will choke if she gets into one.

Kim Welch survives scare on The Big Break Ka’anapali week 4

The most recent episode of The Big Break Ka’anapali started off with the ol’ glass breaking challenge. Nine competitors remain and were divided into three teams. Dana, Courtney and Sophie were made captains and picked their teams. Dana chose Kim and Susan. Courtney chose Lori and Tina.
Sophie chose Samantha and Christina. Christina was hacked off about being chosen last – “Don’t they realize that I’m good?”

In this challenge, each team had to break two panes of glass. Each team member took a shot, one at a time in relay race style, at the glass panes until they were broken. Courtney’s team finished first; Sophie’s second (thanks to help from Christina) and Dana’s finished last – failing to break a single pane.

Adrienne and Liz leave The Big Break Ka’anapali

The latest episode of The Big Break Ka’anapali started out with the flop wall. Contestants could choose from six positions to hit over the flop wall and into a circle on a green behind the wall. The three contestants with the most points would be safe from elimination. This week, two women would be eliminated.

Some competitors cleared the flop wall from the fourth position. Kim, Tina, and Courtney cleared the flop wall from the fifth position and landed in the circle on the green.

Dana was the only one to try from the sixth position and landed it in the circle on the green. She was safe from elimination.

Cirbie Exits Big Break Ka’anapali First

Cirbie and Tina faced off in episode 3’s elimination challenge which consisted of four stations around the green. Cirbie had at least one chance to put Tina away but couldn’t capitalize on it. Their second position was just an uphill chip to the flag and Tina chunked it way short. Cirbie, however, skulled another one and blew it way by.

The Big Break Ka’anapali – first episode

I caught up on my Big Break watching last night. I recorded the first episode. I discovered you can watch a Big Break episode in about 45 minutes without commercials. You can probably watch it faster if you skip through all the “coming up next” scenes as well as the “here’s where we’ve already been” scenes. My big complaint with the Big Break is they chop it up way too much with commercials. Now I’ve got the DVR and will be watching all Big Break shows sans commercials. Bootiful!

Big Break Ka’anapali sexes it up

Kim Welch – looking good
The Big Break started a new season on the golf channel last week. Unfortunately, I missed it but caught the second episode tonight and am recording the first for later viewing. What season are we on now for The Big Break – 13, 21, 48? It always promises to be good when you have a bunch of women fighting it out. The Golf Channel picked something up from VH1 and MTV. The Golf Channel also decided to throw some hotties on this show just in case the in-fighting doesn’t keep your attention.

Valeria Ochoa cashing in on Big Break fame

Valeria Ochoa appears to be cashing in on her Big Break fame. And why not? She’s started her own golf academy and bills out at $120 an hour. I assume that her academy is at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming Facility near her home in Florida. Please leave a comment to this post if you know otherwise. She will appear at your event for $1499 with travel expenses additional. She also appeared on the Big Break VII as well as the Big Break III. As long as the Golf Channel keeps her in the public eye, Valeria may be able to keep raising her hourly.

Judging by this picture, she appears to have a good shot at a career in modeling as well.

You go, girl!

Ouch! Hell, just do us all a favor, Valeria, and take it all off!
