Player rankings after week 8 (week 7 ranking in parens):
5 (5) – Lori “Stinkeye” Atsedes – talks a Don Donatello game and suffers from the same flaw – overconfidence. Got lucky that Kim got nervous. Has she been in an elimination yet? When she gets in one, will she choke?
4 (2) – Christina “The Cocky Kanuke” Lecuyer moves down two spots. She sank a long birdie putt to stay in the competition but that swing can’t hold up under pressure. It’s too loose. First player to hit a terrible shot on the show, except maybe Cirbie. Christina topped a fairway wood big time in last week’s elimination but managed to survive.
3 (6) Susan “Dippin’ Dots” Choi – Sophie was scared to play her and she whacked Samantha. We’ve got to give her more respect. If she puts on a good showing in episode nine, I’ve got to move her to number 1.
1 (1) – Kim “Here Kitty, Kitty” Welch has to share the numero uno spot after Stinkeye trounced her. Plus why hit a 4 iron into a par 5? Poor decision-making and putting is killing her. Needs to get hot with the putter soon to make it to the end.
1 (3) – “Sexy” Sophie Sandolo easily vanquished Christina. Where do we put her? Back on top? – except she was scared to play Susan. She’ll share the top spot with Kitty Welch.
I predict Lori will not avoid the elimination round, and her overconfidence will lead her home.
I’m getting a lot of people coming to the site looking for news of rumors about a Big Break Ka’anapali winner or who the winner is. Did someone leak out the winner’s name early? My guess is that it’s going to be Susan Choi. She’s not long off the tee but she’s got all the shots.

Tiger’s shot on 13 ultimately did him in
Woods pulled off a miraculous shot at 13 which gave him the confidence to try what would have been an even more miraculous shot at 15, a slice 5 iron from 228 yards. The shot on 15 turn out to be ill advised. He did save par but in reality a par on 15 is a bogey especially when you are 3 behind at the time.
2007 Masters: A complete bore
Besides the lousy announcers (Faldo excluded), the 2007 Masters was a complete bore. Sure there was a little intrigue with Tiger trying to fight his troubled swing and come from three behind, but Masters tournament organizers had made the course so tough that the back nine on Sunday (typically the most exciting 9 holes of golf) was devoid of excitement. Where were the slew of birdies and eagles that allowed competitors to make a final 9 charge?
Granted Woods did have a back nine eagle and then completely blew it on 15 going for another, there were no other notable fireworks. Perhaps Masters tournament geniuses will figure it out next year and bring back the opportunity for the most exciting nine holes in golf.
